Hosted PBX

A full business phone system on the same rails that carry our wholesale voice traffic. No hardware to buy, no per-seat license to use the network, and a bill that follows your usage.

A phone system, minus the phone system tax

Most business phone vendors sell a seat and resell somebody else's minutes. We sell the minutes, and the phone system is what we built on top of them.

  • No hardware. Nothing to rack, patch, or replace at end of life. The call flows live in the network.
  • No per-seat license to use the network. Add an extension for a seasonal hire without adding a line item for the year.
  • Usage billing. Local inbound at $0.009 per minute, local outbound from $0.005, internal calls free in both directions.
  • The same rails underneath. Multi-carrier failover, STIR/SHAKEN signing, and network-side recording are not a business-tier add-on here.

Bring your own device

Softphones, desk phones, and existing PBXs all register against the same trunks. Nothing here requires you to throw away working hardware.

  • Softphones. Desktop and mobile clients register from anywhere, which is what remote and hybrid teams actually need out of a phone system.
  • Desk phones. Keep the handsets on the desks. Registration or IP authentication, per-trunk credentials, and ACLs, whichever your equipment prefers.
  • An existing PBX. Point it at inbound SIP trunks at $23.00 per channel per month and change the carrier underneath without touching your call flows.
  • Microsoft Teams. Direct Routing puts PSTN calling inside Teams on our numbers and our rates, licensed per user.

Self-hosted PBX or cloud PBX

Running the box yourself is a real choice. It is mostly a question of who you want patching it at 2am.

Consideration Solved TelephonyCloud PBXon our own rails On premisesSelf-hosted PBXyour box, your carrier
Up-front cost None. Numbers from $1.10 a month and minutes as you use them. Server, licenses, and often the handsets, paid before the first call.
Who patches and upgrades it We do, as part of the service. You do, including the security updates nobody schedules.
Carrier connectivity Included. Origination and termination on our own interconnects. Bought separately, usually from a reseller a layer above the carrier.
Capacity for a busy week Burstable virtual PRI from $0.9675 a day, released when it is over. New channels mean new hardware or a new contract term.
Failover when something drops Multi-carrier paths and number-level overrides in the network. Whatever redundancy you designed and tested yourself.
Recording and transcription Network-side at $0.0025 and $0.05 a minute, so it survives an application outage. Application-side, for as long as the application is up.
Licensing model No per-seat license to use the network. Usage billing. Commonly per seat or per extension, on an annual term.
Remote and mobile users Softphones register from anywhere; Teams Direct Routing from $4.50 per license per month. A VPN, or a public-facing box you harden and monitor yourself.

Getting started

Three steps between an empty account and a ringing phone. Porting existing numbers runs in parallel and does not hold up the first call.

  1. Create your account Sign up, tell us how many extensions and channels you expect, and we confirm the rates that apply to your traffic before anything is provisioned.
  2. Set up your PBX Build extensions, the digital receptionist, time conditions, queues, and voicemail, or point your existing PBX at our trunks and keep the call flows you have.
  3. Add numbers and start calling Buy DIDs from inventory or port the numbers you already advertise, register your devices, and place the first call. E911 is $1.50 per month per DID.

Conference and trunk rates

Conference bridges bill per participant per minute, so a four-person call costs four legs and nothing else. Trunk capacity is bought either as steady channels or by the day.

  • Dial-in numbers wherever your participants actually call from, at the DID rates on the rate card.
  • Conference recording lands with the rest of your recordings, under the same retention window.
  • Unlimited inbound plans are available on select DID types, by request.

Conferencing, per participant

Participant leg Rate Notes
Local participant $0.009 / min Billed per participant, per minute, for each local leg on the bridge.
Toll-free participant $0.027 / min Billed per participant, per minute, when the participant dials your toll-free bridge number.
Conference recording $0.0025 / min Per participant minute recorded, stored alongside your call recordings.

Virtual PRI and SIP trunking

Service Rate Notes
Inbound SIP trunk $23.00 / month Per channel, per month. Concurrency can be raised without rebuilding the trunk.
Burstable virtual PRI From $0.9675 / day For campaigns and seasonal peaks, when you need channels for a week rather than a year.

Rates shown are standard published pricing and may vary by destination, DID type, or account configuration. Volume and platform pricing is quoted. See the full rate card, or read about voice connectivity, phone numbers, messaging, and call routing.

FAQs

Questions about hosted PBX

Do I pay per seat?

There is no per-seat license to use the network. You pay for the minutes, numbers, and features you actually turn on: local inbound at $0.009 per minute, local outbound from $0.005, local DIDs from $1.10 per month. The one exception is the Microsoft Teams connector, which is licensed per user at $4.50 per license per month for voice and $2.00 for messaging.

Can I keep the phones and the PBX I already have?

Yes. Softphones, desk phones, and existing PBXs all register against the same trunks, by registration or IP authentication, whichever your equipment prefers. If you would rather keep your current PBX and only move the carrier underneath it, take inbound SIP trunks at $23.00 per channel per month and leave the call flows where they are.

What is included in the 70+ calling features?

Extensions, time conditions, a digital receptionist with multi-level IVR, call forwarding with conditional and simultaneous ring, voicemail-to-email, call parking, paging, calling queues with hold music and position announcements, and conferencing, among others. Features are configuration rather than upsells, so turning one on does not move you to a higher plan.

How is a conference call billed?

Per participant, per minute. A local participant leg is $0.009 per minute and a toll-free participant leg is $0.027. Conference recording is $0.0025 per participant minute and is stored alongside your call recordings, with the retention window you set for the account.

What is a virtual PRI, and when would I use one?

A virtual PRI gives you concurrent channels over IP instead of a physical circuit. Steady capacity is an inbound SIP trunk at $23.00 per channel per month. If you only need channels for a campaign or a seasonal week, a burstable virtual PRI starts at $0.9675 per day, so you are not signing a year of capacity for a busy fortnight.

Can I move my existing numbers in?

Yes. We read the customer service record before submitting the port so rejections happen on our side rather than on cutover day, schedule the FOC window around your call volume, and support partial ports when you want to move a subset of a block. Port status is visible over the API while it is in flight.
